The Herald's Report

A Monthly Newsletter from the

Imperial Court of New York

October 2, 2011

Greetings and Salutations!

Dearest Friends, It's been a little while since we've written you, but we are having one of the busiest reigns in memory!  Our monarchs have participated in or attended more than 100 events, and we're just at the halfway point of Reign XXV!  Thank you so much to all of you -- we love seeing you around town, on the circuit, at our parties and fundraisers!

In this issue of The Herald's Report were going to do a quick survey of where we've been in August and September, give you some ideas where you might find us in the coming weeks and tell you that we are so very excited about Night of a Thousand Gowns!  Mark your calendars, because planning is already underway for the biggest event of our calendar, the kick off to the Gay Fundraising Season, and the most glittering party on the East Coast!  On March 31, 2012 at the Broadway Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel we will celebrate our reign, kick off the next and raise a lot of money for PFLAG-NY and New Alternatives!

In the meantime, we hope to see you in Hoboken, NJ,  Greenwich, CT, Las Vegas, NV and Toronto and St. Catharine's, Ontario -- oh yes, and right here in the greatest city in the world, New York!  Come join us and the Imperial Court of New York as we put the Fun in Fundraising!

In service to the crown and community,

P. S. Once again, a very special thank you to our photographers.  Without the work of Robin Souma, Anthony Bosco, Mario Mulea, Matty Baker, Patricia Faquet and many others, we'd be telling instead of showing.  Merci mille fois!

NIGHT OF A THOUSAND GOWNS 2012

It's coming!  If you've been following reign XXV (and frankly, who hasn't!), you know that Emperor XX Vanity Society and Empress XXV Pepperica Swirl have brought their own unique style and outlandish creativity to the forefront!  This is sure to be the case for the 26th Annual Night of A Thousand Gowns, and we are excited to announce the first Honorary Co-Chair:  Olympian skater, film and television star Johnny Weir!!

Tickets for this gala are on sale now at an early bird price of only $250 (through 10/31!) Don't miss your opportunity to attend this fabulous party at any price though -- what other gala in New York City offers a full dinner, an open bar, a 5 hour show, more glitz, glitter, celebrity glamour and paparazzi than Night of a Thousand Gowns?!  This is one show you do NOT want to miss.

Carnival Invite
Around the Realm

We are so grateful for the energy and enthusiasm of our great membership -- they have been planning events left and right, including us, building bridges with the community and raising a ton of money for some very worthwhile causes!  Here's a sampling of where we've been!

The Inaugural Gala:  Washington DC
Train
Our biggest excursion was to the Inaugural
Gala of the Imperial Court of Washington
DC.  We had a blast, produced an amazing
 command performance and were on
hand to witness the installation of Czar I
Trace Couture Kennady-Smith.
Of course, we had to get to DC first, and
did so in grand style: 20 of us travelled
together on Amtrak!  How delightful!
We read, slept, played games, planned
future events and managed to have a
great time on the way there and back!

Thanks to Emperors Tony Monteleone and Fantasia, and
Empresses Robin Kradles and Anne Tique for continuing to host this
annual tradition benefiting Bailey House!

JERSEY GIRLS VII

Emperor XVII Rob Hunter de Woofs and Princess Royale Twinkle

Asbury Park, NJ to benefit The Center in Asbury Park.

TEA WITH THE ROYALS

Empress XIX Robin Kradles hosted the second annual Tea with the Royal
Family at Cherry's on the Bay in Cherry Grove...it was 110 degrees in the
shade with 114% humidity, but our girls (and boys) turned it out and
turned it up!

FIERCE CABARET

On the heels of the brunch at Cherry's, Empress XIX Robin Kradles also
produced a fully live sung cabaret at the Metropolitan Room to benefit
Fierce.  The show opened with a rendition of "Magic to Do" from Pippin,
led by Chad Ryan with a chorus including Robin, Epiphany, Anya
Genetalya, Witti Repartee and Empress IX Philomena!

SIR ANTHONY BOSCO'S BIRTHDAY

Anthony Bosco, longtime friend of the court, held his third annual birthday
party at Uncle Charlie's to benefit ICNY's programs.  Hosted by
Witti Repartee, a great time was had by the revelers enjoying an
"Under the Sea" theme...and much money was raised!

MEET THE CANDIDATES

In early August, it was time for the annual Meet the Candidates event,
this time held as a brunch at LIPS -- ICNY Loves their new space and will
be back again and again!  Elevations and Family titles were handed out,
and candidates for board and monarch positions jumped onstage to strut
their stuff -- in addition to some suicide karaoke!  Emperor X Gabriel
Della Notte and Empress XXV Pepperica Swirl kicked things off right
while Emperor XX Vanity Society kept color commentary flowing!
The Court also used the opportunity to present a check for $5,000 to

THE LATEX BALL

Their majesties led an entourage of courtiers dripping in the reign colors
of black, red and white to GMHC's annual Latex Ball, held at Roseland.
The Houses of Harlem turned it out and showed us what Runway was all
about!

THE LOVE BOAT SAILS AGAIN!

The Court's annual excursion on The Queen of Hearts was once again
celebrated in the midst of a thunderstorm, but our hale and hearty crew,
led by Emperor XX Vanity Society and Empress XXV Pepperica Swirl with
help from Princess Sugar B. Real, partied on and raised money for
Friends House!

Our Mission

The mission of the Imperial Court of New York is to raise funds for organizations, including but not limited to those supporting the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community; HIV/AIDS services organizations; social service organizations and youth enrichment programs.  It seeks to provide a safe, social environment for people with the same interests as those of the membership and to create and promote positive community awareness of the ideals of the International Court System.

Our members are dedicated to the causes and charities that are chosen by our organization.  Our two-fold mis
sion encompasses both social and philanthropic arenas.  Moreover, as serious as we are about our mission and our role in the community, we cannot deny that many of us also participate for the frivolity and creative outlet that the Court encourages.
